RiR & Co studio selected by the prestigious Guide Michel Angelo Foundation

The Michel Angelo Foundation Guide is one of the most prestigious handicraft guides in the world..
It is almost like our Michelin guide to make a simile with the kitchen and taking into account that comparisons are always odious. The year 2020 has been a complex year full of uncertainty.
This is why RiR & Co Textile Studio is in this Michelangelo Foundation Guide of Master Craftsmen, it is very important. A great comforting news and that serves as reinforcement to continue working within the World of Craftsmanship.
Since this prestigious guide Homo Faber recognizes the best professionals in different areas of Europe in their sector. It awards a distinction, which in this case are called Master Craftsmen. To feel like one of them is to feel valued in your work and reaffirmed in your way of doing things, since this guide has rigorous and meticulous selection processes.
What is taken into account to be selected by the Michelangelo Foundation Guide.
In this process they take into account lTradition, excellence, the values of craftsmanship combined with the avant-garde, design and innovation.
In my case, the maintenance of traditional Galiciancraft techniques such as the "Gorullo" although in some of our pieces such as Morno and the blankets of the "Los Fueguitos" Collection are worked in more contemporary designs and the innovation of new materials.
Also the work with materials traditionally typical of the area such as wool and linen, so that the craft customs of yesteryear are reflected in contemporary pieces.
It is important that the pieces are made in the workshops of each of those who appear in the guide. In this sense, all these years of research in the weaving of our grandmothers and rural Galician women, are added to our textile designs.
This Michelangelo Foundation Guide also gives visibility to our small artisan workshop in Allariz and puts it on the European "map".
Giving travelers from different areas the possibility to visit us and know our craft first hand, as well as to see our pieces, where they have been made and to know all our craft universe, so rich and full of values. I hope that when the situation improves, the craft culture linked to the territories will be a reason to choose a craft destination full of charm.
So with the responsibility of the Homo Faber label, we will continue working day by day, with the same love and care, respect for the materials, the slow processes, as we have been doing so far in our wooden looms and from our workshop, creating unique pieces, knowing that a new window opens to the world.
Thank you for this new recognition which serves as a reinforcement for me to continue working in the world of craftsmanship.
