These National Awards are convened annually by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism through the School of Industrial Organization (EOI) and its area of promotion of crafts, Fundesarte.

Its objective is to contribute to the development and competitiveness of SMEs in the crafts sector, as well as to encourage innovation, design and their ability to adapt to the crafts market.

Our handmade baby blanket D-leite made with milk protein fiber has been selected as a Finalist in the National Crafts Awards in the Product Category.

This is one of our most innovative textile craft projects. Through the design of this handmade baby blanket we seek to unite artisan weaving techniques with innovation in materials and sustainability.

Its handmade fabric is made with a merino wool warp that comes from the Castilian transhumance with a biodegradable milk protein fiber weft. Both are materials from the revaluation of waste from milk production, which is so abundant in Galicia.

From our textile studio we seek the eco design and sustainability of a unique product that bets for the most contemporary craftsmanship.

"From the design to the final manufacture of each piece, the whole process is carried out under parameters of the highest quality" emphasizes the jury. It goes on to say: "resulting in exclusive contemporary pieces made with techniques that transmit the cultural values of traditional Galician weaving",

This product of Galician craftsmanship, combines traditional craftsmanship with design innovation. To this we add the sustainability of its fibers to create a handmade baby blanket, which provides a sense of emotional well-being to the baby in their care.

  • The aim of the awards, organized by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism through EOI and its Fundesarte chair, is to promote craftsmanship and encourage innovation and competitiveness.

The Awards Ceremony will be held in Madrid on December 15 and the final winners in each of the categories will be announced.

In our case, we share the candidacy for the National Crafts Awards in the Product Category with great artisan companies. Some of them are :el Arte del Olivo from Jaén and Vestuario Carmen from Madrid with a project that also promotes textile craftsmanship.

We are also part of the four Galician candidates for the awards including the Fundación Artesanía de Galicia. Julia de la Cal and colleagues as illustrious as Álvaro Leiro, basketry craftsman who also works for Loewe and opts for the highest category of these National Crafts Awards.

An honor to be there with so many talented Spanish Contemporary Craftsmen.
