Milk fibre was patented at the beginning of the 20th century by a German chemist, and it is a yarn that has recently come into use within the textile industry.
Due to the World War and because it was more expensive than cotton, its use did not become widespread. Relatively few years ago its use was resumed, and the research of Anke Domaske, a German designer, managed to polish the potential flaws of this milk fibre, so that today it is increasingly taken into consideration.
Casein fibre is extracted from the leftover of sour milk or surplus human consumption. It is a sustainable material as its production does not involve chemical processes, and the water consumption for its process is very low. It is mixed with other natural substances such as beeswax to compact and obtain the material for spinning.
The milk protein is dried, boiled, and subjected to various biological processes which are kept secret. It is then turned into a dry powder that is compressed to manufacture an ecological fibre, with a shiny appearance, very soft, and kind to people and the environment, similar to silk.
The first countries to use this fibre were Japan, Italy and the United States.
In the case of our Workshop, we are interested in incorporating more the use of ecological fibres that produce clear benefits for users and the environment. Milk fibre is a fabric that is very absorbent, antibacterial, Antiallergic, and biodegradable.
It is for all these reasons that thinking about the relationship
