‘Camino del agua’ is the first design of a textile collection made entirely by hand using natural wool of different textures. It is designed to bring all those pleasures to your fingertips, so you can enjoy it as a decorative tapestry, a fluffy rug or a blanket for dreaming.

Limited pieces and unique designs, hand-woven on a handloom, in Taller de Diseño Textil RiR & Co located in Allariz, Galicia.

Feel their natural essence. The pleasure is ours.

CAMINO DEL AGUA

In the same way that the water of the streams always flows through the rocks, the wool emerges in loops from the wrap of the fabric.

They are made from different wools: combed merino wool, natural and coloured wool from the transhumance of Castile, and Castilian wool from León. Some of these wools are hand-spun. The wrap is cotton-linen.

With this more pictorial and personal way, I have started to merge my taste for painting and art with handmade textiles. Each piece is also unique because it is not possible to make two identical pieces. They are woven to order, and the colours are mixed by hand.

It is one of my most personal collections with artistically inspired pieces. In fact, some of them have been exhibited in contemporary art galleries.

Tecnique

The technique

These pieces are woven on our handloom horizontally as it was done in the past, using our own techniques based on the traditional weaving techniques of Galicia. We use the ‘Gorullo’techniqueto hand make the wool loop, one by one.

The wrap also uses a traditional Galician technique called ‘tres primideiras’.

At the same time, I mix the wool like watercolours, in order to achieve the pictorial effects of water or clouds. In this way, I bring back a traditional technique to develop it in the future.

This makes the pieces have a lot of volume and an irregular touch that makes them unrepeatable.
