Collection inspired by the short story ‘Un mar de fueguitos’ by Eduardo Galeano

‘No two fires are the same and each fire has its own colour. There are people who have serene fires that the wind doesn't even notice, and there are people with crazy fires that fill the air with sparks. Some foolish fires neither light up nor burn, but others burn their lives with such anxiety that you can't stop looking at them without blinking and whoever comes close to them lights up’.

unique woollen scarves

These unique woollen scarves, like people, symbolise the passion for life, the authenticity of each person who owns them, to care for the difference.

These maxi scarves, like the handmade woollen blankets, are amodern handmade product.

They have been woven on our looms, with a technique developed by us, based on an ancient Galician technique called ‘Gorullo’. This ancient technique creates loops with a rod in the fabric when weaving it on the loom.

I make these handmade maxi scarves on my loom with a looped wool, and I take out each loop one by one, by hand, with my fingers, placing it to make a piece that has a different front and a different back, making drawings with the wool as small ‘hearts’.

The weave is made with different soft materials, like merino wool with silk or mohair, alpaca... in different colours.

These maxi woollen scarves are made one by one in our artisan workshops and take a week to weave.

unique woollen scarves
The entire Fueguitos collection is handmade. It uses a technique inspired by an ancient form of weaving in which the loops are made by hand at the same time as they are woven. This gives them a particularly soft and warm texture, making them unique pieces.

THE TECHNIQUE

The wrapis made frommerino wool and different bands of natural materials such as wool of different qualities, alpaca, merino... The loops are handwoveninspired by the ancient ‘gorullo’ technique, which is popular in Galicia, although they are done by handinstead of using a rigid rod, to get a texture that feels like a caress.

The wool used comes from remnants from factories and we have limited quantities for each colour.  The wool is no longer manufactured. There are limited units of this collection.

On the other hand, they are light, soft, delicate and very cosy, with a pleasant touch and volume. The colours are combined in relation based on the different materials in bands of different wools. The customer can also order the product to theirlinking, with some variation.
